Guidance for College, High School, and ARC/TARC Teams
Rocketry South Carolina, ICBM, and ROSCO would like to welcome you to the hobby. Our organization is here to promote and further the hobby and provide a safe environment for our members and visitors to launch rockets. We want you to succeed and hopefully remain in the hobby or make a career out of what you learn.
The purpose of this page is to help provide and set some ground rules and expectations for teams that visit our launches. Safety is not negotiable. We are either safe or we do not do fly at all. We are here for your questions and will walk you through a safe flight as much as we are needed.
Common questions:
- Are there any fees? Students fly for free. Donations are accepted. We do ask that you help with set-up and/or take down the launch equipment. Set up and shut down are a lot of work. We could use help.
- Do I need to register ahead of time? No, but we appreciate a heads up and have a form for you to fill out. The form will provide us with vital information to assist with planning and set up.
- Does our mentor have to be on the field? No, but if they are not planning to attend with you, you need to let us know so we can monitor you a little closer and ensure that we provide assistance when needed. We often will appoint someone to serve as an on-the-field mentor if needed, but this should be requested prior to the launch.
- Can I ground test charges or a motor? Yes, but let us help you maintain safety. Setting off motors or charges on your own is not a good idea.
Please fill out
