NSL 2022 (May 28-30)
We had good weather all three days - mostly clear skies with light winds and temperatures in the low to mid 90s. We were late getting started on Saturday due to the sod farm being crop dusted. We were finally able to access the field at about 10 am and were flying by 11 am. Saturday we finished flying at 6 pm. We probably could have gone longer but that was when our waiver closed for the day. Sunday we stopped around 5 pm. That was due to everyone being exhausted and deciding they did not want to fly anything more that day. Monday the last flight was launched at approximately 2:58 pm with the waiver closing at 3 pm.
Registered Flyers: Saturday 104, Sunday 62, and Monday 34.
There were 20 certification attempts on Saturday, five on Sunday, and two on Monday. Unfortunately not all of the flight cards were marked if the certifications were successful so I am still working to gather that information and will update this post when I have it. There were five successful L2 tests.
The smallest motor used for the weekend was a 1/2A3-2T and the largest was an M2400.
Thank you to the vendors that were on the field: Chris' Rocket Supplies, JonRocket.com, Merlin Missile Solutions, and Railbuttons.com. They each gave generous prizes for our raffle and helped us raise additional money for the purchase of a new club trailer. Aerotech Consumer Aerospace also graciously donated prizes for our raffle.
There was also an awesome food truck on the field: Barn Side BBQ. Check them out in Sumter if you have the chance.
We would also like to take a moment to thank everyone who helped in the planning, organizing, equipment set up, running, and equipment tear down for NSL. We had many volunteers and appreciate the work done by each of them.
